“Is this statement true?”
Check an individual claim against the evidence.
The reality-check and judgment layer above AI. See what holds up, what’s missing, and what should change.
AI has made answers abundant.
Judgment still takes work.
A fluent answer can rest on the wrong question, weak evidence or a missing option. Civilization Labs is building Evidarium to help you see the difference.
Examine the whole piece of thinking.
Not just the statements inside it.
Check an individual claim against the evidence.
Examine the framing, evidence, assumptions, alternatives and what could make the conclusion fail.
Bring an AI answer, plan or strategy. See what holds up, what may be wrong or missing, and what should change.
REVIEWBring a question when you don’t yet have an answer. Build an analysis with the evidence and alternatives in view.
EXPLOREKeep what you concluded and why. Watch the signals that could change it, and know which part to reconsider.
REVISIT“Launch in Market B.

The report cites regional growth. Does the evidence actually show demand in Market B?
Market-specific demand evidence.
Know what you can defend.
And what still needs evidence.
A clearer basis for action.
When your money, time, people
or reputation are on the line.
The quality of judgment matters more than ever.
The decisions that shape our companies, institutions and communities should be shaped by people who can tell what’s known from what’s assumed, see what they might be missing, and change course when the evidence does.
Civilization Labs builds the systems that make judgment more reliable.
Four decades of bringing people and institutions together to navigate technological change.
Jim has spent four decades bringing people and institutions together around consequential technological shifts. His focus today grows out of that work: as AI makes it easier to produce persuasive answers, people need better ways to examine the thinking behind them.
Through the World Technology Network, he connected more than 1,500 innovators across science, technology and business. In 2015, he convened the World Summit on Technological Unemployment. From 2018 to 2021, he co-led the International Congress for the Governance of Artificial Intelligence, bringing different disciplines into conversations about AI’s consequences well before the current boom.
With Evidarium, he is turning years of research into practical tools: uncovering hidden assumptions and overlooked options, testing claims against evidence, and identifying when a decision needs to change. The purpose is to help people build a clearer picture of reality, and know how far they can trust it.
